What a cowardly organisation; what a cowardly decision.

GHA refused to explain why they have chosen to ignore Hamiltonhill’s call for ‘secured by design’ steel close doors.
GHA are aware that Hamiltonhill Action Group has a watertight case.
This is why the GHA refuse to be drawn onto camera. They are hoping to abdicate their responsibility to ensure their tenants security. So they are ducking out of the limelight in the hope that tenants will lose heart and give up.
Shame on GHA. So very cowardly of them to refuse to face up to their decisions, and face up to their responsibilities.
But what else could we expect from a landlord that has failed to spend its ‘emergencies only’ budgetary allocation in an area like Hamiltonhill, which the landlord has stated it means to demolish. What else could we expect from a landlord that cannot spend emergency repairs budgets but plans to double our rent in the next few months.
That’s right. GHA cannot find eight months of rental income (the cost, GHA let slip to the Action Group, of the steel doors investment) to ensure basic security. It cannot find eight months rental income for a proven security investment that GHA has seen fit to crow about, where it has made this investment elsewhere in the city. It cannot allocate eight months of tenants rents back into our community. But it can double our rents.
What a cowardly organisation this is.
GHA is happy to spend £30,000 per edition of the KEY (it’s regular propaganda rag), paying out to the PR firm that puts it together. It is happy to place adverts on buses talking about how friendly faces can be found at GHA offices.
But it is not prepared to be drawn on camera, to explain why given chronic underinvestment GHA feels the need to double our rents; not prepared to be drawn on camera to explain why it cannot find eight months rent after years of zero capital investment; and not prepared to be drawn on camera to explain why it will not invest in proven security improvements, in an area of high crime, where residents live in fear and insecurity.
How very cowardly.
